The Mean Green Matcha Machine

This isn’t just your typical run-of-the-mill green smoothie.  This one calls for matcha green tea powder.  I recently read that this superfood was on the top 10 healthy food trends in 2016, and for good reason.  It’s packed with antioxidants, natural tea caffeine, and other metabolism-boosting nutrients!

It’s seems a little pricey at first, but a little goes a long way.  It won’t be in your local grocery store unless you shop at Whole Foods, but you can buy it here on Amazon.  It also goes great in lattes if you have your own latte machine!

The Mean Green Matcha Smoothie | Health and Happy Hour

1 Apple
1 Banana
2 Handfuls Spinach or Kale
½ Cucumber
½ Lemon
1 Kiwi
Matcha Green Tea Powder, 1 scoop – See serving size on pkg
Water, 1 1/2 cups
Ice (optional but recommended)

Chop the ingredients (size depending on the power of the blender used) and blend. If using a standard home blender, chop up the ingredients into small cubes for them to blend appropriately. If using something more powerful such as a Vitamix or other heavy duty blender, less chopping is needed.

Note: If you make smoothies often, I highly recommend taking the plunge and buying a Vitamix.  It will change your life, and it’s worth every penny! I bought a refurbished one like this one from Amazon, because it’s less than half the price of a new one and the company guarantees them.  If that’s just not in your budget, the Ninja Professional Blender also works awesome for the price.
